At Summer of Tech, a big part of our charity focus is to give opportunities to students to learn job-ready skills and all the latest and greatest technologies in Aotearoa. We cannot do it without the support of our amazing volunteers. They contribute their time, knowledge and energy to empowering students in our programme.

We are searching for knowledgeable and skilled people in tech just like you! Most volunteer roles can be done virtually wherever in the world you are.

  • There are many benefits to volunteering for Summer of Tech:

    • Have the chance to work 1:1 to coach and empower underrepresented groups/individuals in the community as a mentor. 

  • We strive to create an equitable and inclusive tech sector, which starts with representation. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, especially if you have experience supporting underrepresented folks into tech careers, including:

    • Māori and Pasifika

    • International Students and Migrants

    • Women and Non-Binary

    • LGBTQIA+

    • Neurodivergent 

    • Individuals with a disability

    • Career changers and mature students

    • Non-traditional study paths

  • We are on the lookout for mentors, Bootcamp presenters, CV reviewers and welcome techies who align with our values to apply.  

    Bootcamp presenter: delivering a 60-90 minutes educational workshop to students on career readiness, technology, design, analytics and other areas. Find out more information about bootcamps here.

    Mentor: supporting students to navigate their professional journey, ideally someone who has been in the industry for at least 3 years

    CV Reviewer: providing 1:1 constructive feedback to students on their CVs to give them a higher chance of being invited to interviews

    Mock Interviewer: conducting interview practice with students and giving them constructive feedback (ideally, you will need to have hiring experience)
